Sara has only one Christmas wish

Sara Elisabeth Sørensen was due to land at Torp Airport on Friday, but the return journey to Norway had to wait.

The flight from Manchester was canceled due to bad weather. Due to a general strike in, among other things, public transport in England, she did not return alone to Leeds on Friday.

– I miss home a lot, says the 24-year-old when Dagbladet picks up the thread on Monday afternoon.

Only desire

Then he’s on his way to the airport again, in another attempt to return home to his family in Sandefjord.

Sørensen usually lives in the English city of Leeds, where he studied and worked for several years.

The last time she was home was in July.

– I come home twice a year, at Christmas and in the summer. It only happens a few times, says Sørensen.

– Going home for Christmas is the only thing I want, she adds.

Sørensen is not that just one who struggled to get home from England lately. Last week, a number of flights into Gatwick and Heathrow airports outside London were canceled due to snow.

The weather conditions have also created major challenges for traffic on the roads, as well as trains to and from airports.

– Maybe last Christmas

Sørensen will be back in England as early as New Year’s Eve, and there are many plans when he first goes home to Norway for the Christmas holidays.

– It’s very embarrassing. The calendar is tight to meet everyone and do it all for Christmas. Every day counts for a lot, she says.

He looks forward to cabin trips and ski trips if he comes home.

– It doesn’t have the same outdoor activities and nature in England, so it will be a very different Christmas if I have to be here. Our dog is also getting old so it might be the last Christmas with him. I just want to see my family and be outside.

But Sørensen has drawn up a plan C if Monday afternoon’s flight doesn’t go as planned.

– He has to fly from London on Wednesday. If it doesn’t work, I don’t know what to do. It’s stressful, concludes Sørensen.

He fears that the freezing rain could slow down his return home as early as Monday.

The Norwegian Meteorological Institute issued a rain warning on Monday for freezing to the ground in Viken, Oslo, Vestfold and Telemark.
