The Radeon RX 7600 will have a TDP of less than 225W, photos of the first non-reference card show. But the price, at least in Europe, could be higher than what we wrote last time.
AMD is gearing up to release the next generation GPU with the RDNA 3 architecture, the Radeon RX 7600. It should be in less than two weeks, but so far there have been very few leaks. After leaking photos of the card’s box and the still incomplete specifications, photos of the graphics itself have now appeared, which indicate something about the consumption. We also have other rumors about the price, but so far they are contradictory – according to some, the card should be quite cheap, according to others, more expensive.
The first Radeon photos of the RX 7600 itself were published by the VideoCardz website. He is photographed Sapphire Radeon RX 7600 Pulse, which should be a more affordable variant of this manufacturer’s cards (next to the more expensive Nitro version). The graphics with the Navi 33 chip again have 32 CU (2048 shaders) and 8 GB of memory (plus 32 MB of Infinity Cache) according to the information on the box. The images could probably be from the same Asian source that provided the box image (however, that was the OC version, whereas this card doesn’t have the Overclocked label on the box). But these are probably renders used by Sapphire marketing, which probably a lot of people have access to.
The Pulse card from Sapphire has a two-fan cooler that is probably two slots thick and does not lack a backplate. It also has a small window at the end for air flow, but this only covers a small part of the profile of the second fan. The passive is not pure aluminum, but uses a heatpipe. We don’t know if the card will have any (A)RGB LEDs.
In the photos, however, you can see the power supply – this is solved by one eight-pin connector. This limits the TDP the card could have to around 225W (75W from the slot and 150W via a single eight-pin cable). The TDP of the Radeon RX 7600 will therefore be somewhere between 150 and 225 W, which is not a very useful inclusion, as this was generally expected.
The Navi 33 GPU, and thus the Radeon RX 7600, only use the PCIe 4.0 ×8 interface to connect to the system. Although the card in the photo has pins for all 16 lines on the connector, only eight will actually work. Notice in the photo of the underside of the card the absence of SMD components at the second half of the length of the connector.
The last thing the photos showed are the image outputs. There are four of them (three DP 2.1, one HDMI 2.1) and it turns out that although the Navi 33 is a small chip for which AMD probably tried to achieve the lowest possible price, the image outputs were not sacrificed (as happened with the used Navi 24 in Radeon RX 6500 XT).
Cena?
The Radeon RX 7600 is scheduled to go on sale on 5/25, i.e. in less than two weeks. In the previous report, we wrote about information according to which the card could cost only around $250 (CZK 6,500 / €274), which was allegedly indicated by the originator of the leaked photos.
However, the Cowcotland website now writes that according to its information coming from France, the planned price for this market is €349, i.e. quite a bit higher – in the Czech Republic it would be a little under CZK 8,250 (it should be a price with VAT, but the French have it only 20%). This should be the price for a “custom” card, so it’s not clear if this means overclocked editions with a slightly higher price than recommended. If so, then the price for the reference configuration, i.e. the cheapest models, could be lower. But probably not by much.
None of these amounts have been confirmed by multiple sources, so it’s hard to say what the reality will be. Theoretically, the price can also still change. According to the approval law, one can probably expect rather higher of these variants. VideoCardz points out that it is also possible that AMD will release these graphics at a slightly higher price ($300-$350), but the real prices in stores will then fall, similar to processors, and in a few months the Radeon RX 7600 will be more affordable (price drops below “MSRP” are already appearing at Nvidia as well).
