Säpo operation in Tyresö – four suspects arrested for preparation for terrorist crimes

It was around 2pm on Thursday that neighbors raised the alarm about an explosion in a premises in Tyresö. The witnesses that SVT has been in contact with tell of a loud bang in an association room.

At 5:30 p.m., the security police announced in a press release that four people had been arrested in connection with the operation. They are suspected of preparation for terrorist offenses and serious weapons offences.

Later in the evening, the four people were arrested on suspicion of preparation for terrorist crimes and aggravated weapons crimes, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.

– There are individuals where we see connections to serious crime in Sweden and also international connections to the terrorist group IS, says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg, press spokesperson at Säpo.

However, Säpo does not want to go into detail about what the suspicions consist of.

– What I can say is that we have known about these people for a long time and have made an effort against their plans to avert a threat, says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg.

Strömmer (M): confirms that we have a high terrorist threat

In a comment to TT, Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) writes that the operation in Tyresö shows that there is a terrorist threat against Sweden.

“This confirms that we have a high terrorist threat against Sweden, and that the Security Police work intensively and continuously to prevent and prevent this type of serious crime,” he writes in a message to TT.

He also adds that the suspects:
