Saône-et-Loire: Belgian chemist Technochim expands to Tournus

The Belgian Technochim wants to grow in France and intends to rely on its establishment in Tournus, in Saône-et-Loire, to achieve this. This company specializing in mechanical, chemical and electrochemical treatments of metal surfaces is investing 1 million euros in its Burgundy site in order to open a new treatment workshop there. This will allow it to better satisfy its French customers, whereas, until now, on-site interventions and workshop orders were managed from the head office, located in Ghislenghien, Belgium.

“We have many requests in addition to our current customers in the Lyon region, and it is not always easy to satisfy them given the distance that separates us from the Belgian site”, explains Frédéric Groulard, the founder and boss of group. “It is also at the same time the moment to work on the development of a new clientele in this region which is in great demand. “

Strong growth expected

Technochim is targeting in particular the pharmaceutical sector, which is highly developed in the Lyon region and which represents the majority of its customers for its derouging, pickling, passivation, mechanical polishing and electropolishing of stainless steel activities.

The geographical location of Tournus, close to the A6 motorway and the north-south axis, has thus convinced the Belgian group to buy a warehouse there in 2020 to set up its French subsidiary. The team of five people who work there should be doubled with the upcoming recruitment of five other collaborators.

Technochim France today represents around 30% of the group’s overall turnover. With the establishment of Tournus and the opening of this new surface treatment workshop, it aims “for double-digit annual growth and aims to quickly achieve the same turnover as that generated by its sister company Technochim Belgium” , indicates the group.
