(ANSA) – BRASILIA, DEC 22 – The state of São Paulo, the most affected by the coronavirus in Brazil, is evaluating the possibility of declaring practically total isolation at Christmas and New Years, local press reported today.
The São Paulo governor, Joao Doria, can decree the “red phase” of the confinement throughout the state, with a population of 46 million inhabitants, from December 25 to 27 and from January 1 to 3, the newspaper revealed today State of San Pablo.
If the “red phase” is put into effect, restaurants, bars must close their doors and there may be no other activities in which there are large concentrations of public.
Brazil faces a critical phase of the pandemic with more than 187 thousand deaths and 7.2 million infected, while in São Paulo there were about 46 thousand deaths and 1.3 million contaminated by the disease. (ANSA).
