São Paulo Board of Directors Faces Athlete Dissatisfaction and Delays in Image Rights and Bonuses Ahead of Conmebol Libertadores

In search of reinforcements for the team, which will compete in Conmebol Libertadores next year, the board of São Paulo is having to deal with the dissatisfaction of athletes on the squad due to delays in image rights, prizes and other bonuses.

Last Friday, striker Calleri made the delays public when responding to a journalist on the social network X, the former Twitter. The player complained that the publication stated that the delay was restricted to “two months of image rights”.

– I respect you because you are a guy who works a lot. But when it’s not true, I have to deny it – wrote Calleri, in response.

In the case of Calleri, according to the ge, delays include gloves and bonuses. There are differences, however, about goals set out in the contract that are being discussed between the club and the center forward’s agents.

The situation spreads to other athletes in the group, with differences between what is owed. The board deals with this without fuss and shows no concern about the possibility of athletes leaving the club for this reason.

At the same time as trying to contain the damage caused by delays, the command of the São Paulo has been negotiating the hiring of reinforcements for next year. Two of them, already announced – Erick and Luiz Gustavo – were free and have no transfer costs, just gloves and salaries.

The club is also close to signing Paraguayan midfielder Damián Bobadilla. On Thursday, the athlete’s agent told a radio station in the country that the São Paulo will invest 3 million euros (around R$14.75 million) to buy 60% of the player’s economic rights – without specifying the date or method of payment.

Striker Ferreira, from Grêmio, is another who could join Tricolor. There is also the likely purchase of the rights of full-back Caio Paulista, who is on loan from Fluminense. O São Paulo has already expressed its intention to comply with the clause that stipulates a value close to R$ 17.2 million – the club is negotiating the payment in installments.
