The board of São Paulo he made an official statement this afternoon (10) and informed that full-back Daniel Alves no longer plays for the club. The player did not re-introduce himself after participating in the round of Playoffs of the World Cup with the Brazilian Team. Coach Hernán Crespo has been told that Dani Alves is no longer available.
The athlete’s representatives claimed that the player will not re-appear to Tricolor while the debt that São Paulo has with him is not settled. The amounts owed by the Morumbi club to the player are around BRL 11 million.
Given the attitude taken by Dani Alves, São Paulo made the decision to put an end to the passage of the full-back for the club. The definition is that the player will no longer play with the tricolor shirt, debt paid or not. He played only six games for Tricolor in the Brazilian Championship and is able to compete in the rest of the competition for another club.
“Daniel Alves and Miranda were serving the Brazilian team and should have presented themselves today to begin training. Miranda attended, trained normally, but Daniel Alves did not attend,” said football director Carlos Belmonte, in a video released by the club. He was alongside superintendent Rui Costa and coordinator Muricy Ramalho.
Belmonte said that São Paulo made a proposal to the player last week, “seeking an understanding and settlement of this debt”. The offer was not accepted by the athlete’s representatives.
“The negotiation will continue involving the legal department and the finance department. From the football department’s point of view, we made the decision and informed coach Hernán Crespo that Daniel Alves will no longer be available to play for the São Paulo team. remember that São Paulo is more important than all of us. We all work in favor of the institution,” stated Belmonte.
This is another chapter of the already troubled relationship between Daniel Alves and São Paulo. The athlete was criticized by fans when he embezzled the team to play the Tokyo 2020 Olympics with selection. Upon winning the gold, he countered by stating that the Tricolor had already failed him, while he had never failed with São Paulo.
