São Paulo announced this Thursday afternoon the renewal of Welington’s contract. The new bond signed by the left-back runs until December 31, 2024.

Previously, Welington’s contract with Tricolor ran until October 2023. On the club’s official website, the 20-year-old left-back commented on the signing:

Welington was revealed by São Paulo, on Cotia’s CT, and has been with the club since he was 13 years old. This year, he was promoted to the professional cast of Tricolor.

So far, he has played 11 games and participated in the São Paulo Championship title campaign, which ended with an eight-year and five-month hiatus without São Paulo titles.

São Paulo returns to the field this Saturday, at 7pm, against Atlético-GO, for the second round of the Brazilian Championship. In their debut, Tricolor drew 0-0 with Fluminense.
