Music and theatre come together in Santurtzi. The Serantes Kultur Aretoa (SKA) kicks off its autumn programme with ‘Más que música’, three comedy shows that combine musical rhythm and the expressiveness of theatre. Three different pieces of great quality that will thrill the audience. These are the plays ‘Un día feliz’, ‘Días Estupendos’ and ‘Lorca en Nueva York’. Tickets can be purchased on the website serantes.com at a price of between 12 and 18 euros for non-members and between 10 and 16 for SKA members.

The plays will take place on the first three Fridays of October; the first will begin at 8.30pm and the remaining two at 8pm. On the 4th, it will be the turn of ‘A Happy Day’, a play in which the author and director, Joaquín Murillo, stages a multidisciplinary musical comedy that combines live gypsy music, theatre, improvisation and a lot of humour. Through music, a concert full of madness and passion is presented, covering the tragicomic adventures of the Poliedrich family and the historical events of the last century.

The programme will continue on the 11th with ‘Días maravillosos’, a play by Alfredo Sanzol that will take us through the summers of different countries that share the same territory: that of solitude, contradictions and the complexity of human relationships. In the form of short scenes, the show is an emotional puzzle sprinkled with humour about the difficulties involved in being human and not dying in the attempt. ‘Lorca en Nueva York’ concludes the musical-theatre programme on the 18th. The play, by Alberto San Juan-La Banda, will immerse the audience in Lorca’s various settings, such as Wall Street, Harlem, the crowd, the countryside and Havana.
