– João Paulo’s decision demonstrated commitment and respect for the club, as he had three proposals and decided to stay in Vila Belmiro – said the Santos club in an official statement.

O Santos has been looking for some players desired by Fábio Carille’s technical committee to reduce salaries due to relegation to Series B. Tomás Rincón was the first to accept the new policy, while names like Soteldo and midfielder Didi did not agree – both were traded to Grêmio.
In this way, Peixe intends to reduce the salary bill for next season by half, with a limit of R$350,000 per player.
