The president of the Consortium of As Mariñas and mayor of Abegondo, José Antonio Santiso, considers the crisis in the supramunicipal entity settled after the agreement of the mayors of the A Coruña region to create a new entity that will continue with the joint provision of services. Santiso appreciates the change in mood that will allow closing the transition from the consortium to the association of municipalities between the end of this year and the beginning of next.
He has also confirmed that he will leave the Presidency of the Consortium as soon as the judicial process opened by the complaint filed by the Oleiros City Council against the secretary and the controller of the regional entity and Santiso himself for an alleged crime of prevarication in the hiring of personnel ends. The mayor of Abegondo is convinced that if Oleiros does not withdraw the complaint, it will finally be shelved. From there, he will leave the presidency for someone else to lead the transition.
Ask Inés Rey to clarify her proposal on Nostián and the metropolitan area
José Antonio Santiso also addresses the City Council of Coruña to clarify his position on the Nostián garbage plant and the creation of the metropolitan area of A Coruña. The president of the Consortium wants to know if the town councils of the region will be able to participate in the management and ownership of the facilities and if the mayor of A Coruña, Inés Rey, really wants to promote a metropolitan area that supports the entire region and that should be approved by law of the Parliament of Galicia.
At present, the As Mariñas Consortium is in charge of collecting and transferring rubbish to Nostián from eight town councils in the region, which also share the animal lace service and specialized social services.
