Santiago Rossi, born in February 1971completed his medical residency in Diagnostic Imaging in it Hospital of Clinics. In 1999made a Fellowship in Thoracic Radiology in the Duke University in USAand obtained his specialization in Diagnostic Imaging with title of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA)in which he took out a 10 in his final thesis.
He was an adjunct professor at the Chair of Diagnostic Imaging of the Favaloro University Foundation and Head of Practical Work of the Chair of Radiology of the Hospital of Clinics of the UBA.
Throughout his career, he was recognized with awards both nationally and internationally.
He was a member of the Society of Thoracic Radiologybased in the USA where he participated as a guest speaker at the last annual congresses. He served as a judge in the thorax category for the prestigious journal International Radiographics and was a reviewer for international journals Radiographics y American Journal of Roentgenology (AIR).

During his career, he received awards at national and international levelhighlighting the Cum Laude and Certificate of Merit from the Radiological Society of North AmericaHe was co-author of the chapter on Lung Cancer in the Fourth Edition of the book “Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Whole Body”, and other publications.
He also worked as Principal Investigator in numerous research projects on contrast media and as a radiologist in protocols of various international laboratories.
The statement from the Rossi Center highlights that “under Santiago’s direction, this institution was consolidated as a reference in the country’s health fieldbeing a pioneer in various areas of medicine. His legacy is palpable in every corner of the Rossi Center. His dedication and professionalism have left an indelible mark on all those who had the opportunity to know him and work alongside him.”
Following the news of Santiago Rossi’s death, various institutions expressed their sorrow at the departure of the renowned professional.
The Argentine Society of Infectology (SADI) expressed its deep regret at the departure of the professional, and highlighted his commitment and collaboration with the institution. “Dr. Rossi was an active collaborator with our Society through the Commission for Immunocompromised Patients, both in the development of guidelines and in numerous dissertations,” it said in a statement on social media.
He Interamerican College of Radiology (CIR) also expressed its sadness at the loss of someone they considered a fundamental pillar of thoracic radiology. “With great sadness, the CIR bids farewell to Dr. Santiago Rossi, a pillar of thoracic radiology and a valuable collaborator. His legacy in the training of physicians in Latin America will endure,” the institution highlighted, and praised his invaluable contribution to the training of new generations of physicians throughout the region.
Another recognized entity that expressed its condolences was the Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR), which considered him a pioneer and world reference in his specialty. In turn, the SRT especially remembered his ability to build bridges and build friendships through the practice of medicine. “We regret the loss of Santiago Rossi, world-renowned thoracic radiologist. He will be remembered for his love of family, friends and football,” they said in the statement.
