Santiago Román has become mayor of Sant Joan d’Alacant this Saturday in compliance with the governance agreement that Ciudadanos and the PSPV reached at the beginning of the legislature and for which Jaime Albero has given him the leadership of the municipality in Ecuador of the legislature. Roman has obtained 11 votes from the local corporation.
In an Extraordinary Plenary of the investiture Román has highlighted that he will be the mayor “of all”, a first mayor of “office, with the door open to the citizen, but also on the street.” And after thanking the socialist Albero for the “good will to mark an iron and stable government” with the agreement signed in 2019.
He has also stressed that he wants to make Sant Joan a “reference in the region and province” and has stressed that he will work to make it the Sant Joan of opportunities. Thus, it will raise “values” such as the commercial and hospitality fabric, it will continue to “squeeze” areas such as culture, sports and festivals, and it will establish a local tax reform.

For his part, the socialist Jaime Albero has said goodbye to the Mayor’s Office, vindicating what has been achieved in his six-year mandate. Roman has been advised to “never miss the opportunity” to defend the interests of Sant Joan, as he has done, taking advantage of the fact that the president of the Provincial Council was present at the event, to demand that he enter the Council’s Cooperation Fund. “Sant Joan would have a million euros more,” he told him.

Meanwhile, Ignacio Ferreiro de Podemos, Gema Alemañ de Vox, Sergio Agueitos de Compromís and Manuel Aracil of the PP, have reminded him of the new first mayor who accedes to the position with the greatest of commitments to be achieved, as is that Sant Joan d’Alacant have a budget this 2021 and that are yet to be approved.
