The New York team will face the winner of the duel between Mexican teams Mazatlán and Cruz Azul in the quarterfinals.

The first half was even and after a mistake by each side, the Mexicans opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Brazilian Rafael Carioca caused a rebound from American goalkeeper Matthew Freese with a shot, which the same South American recovered to send a pass into the area that Pizarro headed in for 1-0.

In the next play, City equalized after taking advantage of a poor defensive attempt by Jesús Ángulo, who lost a ball that Moralez stole and, without pressure, defined the 1-1 close to the right post of Argentine goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán.

New York pushed forward in the first minutes of the second half and after a shot by Austrian Hannes Wolf that was saved by Guzmán, they completed the comeback again by taking advantage of a poor start by Tigres, now by Carioca, which Rodríguez cut off to make a one-two with Moralez and score the final 1-2 in the 65th minute.

The felines tried to tie the score, but in the final minutes the Argentine Juan Brunetta, at 84′, and the Brazilian Joaquim, at 90′, missed their shots.
