Uruguayan Santiago Rodriguez sealed New York City’s 2-1 comeback win over Mexico’s Tigres on Tuesdaywith which the MLS team advanced to the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup.
In the round of 16, Maximiliano Moralez was the other scorer for New York. Argentine Guido Pizarro scored for the felines, who were one of the favorite teams in the Mexican league to fight for the title of the competition due to their powerful roster.

The New York team will face the winner of the duel between Mexican teams Mazatlán and Cruz Azul in the quarterfinals.
The first half was even and after a mistake by each side, the Mexicans opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Brazilian Rafael Carioca caused a rebound from American goalkeeper Matthew Freese with a shot, which the same South American recovered to send a pass into the area that Pizarro headed in for 1-0.
