Several non-crypto financial companies have recently announced or started operating crypto businesses in Brazil. In July, Brazilian fintech PicPay announced plans to launch a crypto exchange and stablecoin tied to the Brazilian real in 2022, while in December Mercado Libre, Latin America’s largest e-commerce company by market value, began allowing Brazilian users to buy, sell and hold cryptocurrencies.
