Due to the health and social crisis of COVID-19 and the cancellation of the festive events of the Cultural Association of Moors and Christians and of the Union of Festers, This year 2020 is an atypical year without the traditional Santa Pola Festivities or the respective Book.
From the consistory they want to maintain the festive spirit and has presented a festive magazine, which aims to be a brief historical book witness of this unique year, under the name “Santa Pola, Festes Patronals 2020”. Includes a activity program, that will take place the first week of September, in which the relevant security measures can be maintained.
The publication includes different testimonies from collaborators who talk about COVID-19 and offer recommendations to live as well as possible with this virus, there are also cultural articles about the etymology of the name of Santa Pola, the changes produced in the way of saying the time zones, the creation and subsequent restoration of the first altarpiece of the patron saint the Virgin of Loreto burned in 1936 or the description of the different stages of construction and subsequent extensions of the port of Santa Pola. Also included in the magazine are reflections of different personalities of Santa Polera social life.
The magazine is free and one copy per person registered in the town can be collected, upon presentation of ID, on August 25, 26 and 27 at:
– House of Culture from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 18 to 20 h.
– Town Hall from 6pm to 8pm.
Regarding the programming, all the shows that will take place in the El Palmeral Auditorium and Patio de Armas del CastilloThey will be free, with pre-assigned chairs and limited capacity, in order to comply with all current hygienic-sanitary measures.
On September 7 the Offering to our Patron can be made between 10’00 and 2’00 hours to avoid crowds. Also for the same reason, on September 8 from midnight to 10.00 pm, The route of the Procession of the Virgin of Loreto will be enabled for all those people who want to run it.
The City Council wants to express a special thanks to the local business, who year after year collaborates in the edition of the Book of Fiestas, as well as all those who have collaborated this year in the festive magazine.
