Santa Fe taxi drivers protest against the arrival of Uber

The transport company Uber has arrived in Santa Fe capital (Argentina) causing the rejection of the taxi sector.

The taxi drivers will meet to prepare action measures that make the problem they pose visible and obtain a response from the municipality.

This was expressed by Miguel Acosta, spokesman for Taxistas Autoconvocados:

“It is not feasible for Uber to go to work in Santa Fe due to a question of physical space for three transportation subsystems.”

For this reason, he stated that the incorporation of the passenger transport service of the mobile application “leads us to a very complicated situation.”

“It is a multinational that is used to getting into cities without authorization and in the case of Santa Fe took advantage of the right moment, due to the bad economic situation, the coronavirus pandemic and the unemployment rate. Of course it is not the first time they have done it, they are experts in this. “

In this context, Acosta considered that “Uber is not going to come to add passengers to the subsystem, but it is going to begin to divide the existing passengers into three. There the problem, if divided in three we are condemned to suffer and to disappear ”.
