Santa Fe Government News

The provincial Ministry of Health reported that starting next Monday, January 10, all those under 18 years of age will be able to receive the first vaccine against the Coronavirus without requesting a previous appointment. It should be remembered that boys and girls from 3 to 11 years old will receive the corresponding dose of Sinopharm; while the age group that goes from 12 to 17, will receive Pfizer.

In this regard, the Minister of Health, Sonia Martorano, indicated that “the province has 81% of the population with a complete scheme. The 12 to 17 age group has 78% with two doses, while from 3 to 11 only 60% have their complete scheme. But there is 20% who have been vaccinated with the first dose and are not attending to get the second, so we insist that mothers and fathers take their children to the vaccination center ”.

“That is why from next Monday we will have free vaccination for those under 18 years of age,” Martorano said and continued: “It is a recommendation of the Ministry of Health of the Nation and the Argentine Society of Pediatrics. We have placed more than 670 thousand doses in boys and girls from 3 to 11 without reports of serious adverse effects ”.

ADMINISTRATIONS AND VACCINATION

Regarding hospitalizations, the head of the health portfolio pointed out that “there is an increase in hospitalizations in adults but we also see some in children. So seeing also what happens in other countries, we cannot think that we are exempt from this “.

“In addition, another option that was opened nationwide is that if a person from Santa Fe has their turn to get vaccinated and is on vacation, that person can do so in the city where they are. The same happens if we have a tourist on a walk through Santa Fe and they have to be vaccinated, ”Martorano closed.

For her part, the undersecretary of equity, Romina Carrizo, said: “We want to emphasize that with this vaccination that is released, which is not scheduled in shifts, it has the objective of reaching greater coverage to be able to face this third wave.”

“We are going to be able to extend this strategy according to the age groups that we are seeing, and more coverage is required. This is something that was established and it worked for us with the first doses when we released since we had a good flow of people who attended the vaccinations, that is why it is the strategy that we are now applying to other age groups ”, he continued.

EXPONENTIAL INCREASE IN CASES

Regarding the increase in positive cases of Coronavirus at the local and national level, the Minister of Health explained that “since the pandemic began, this is the time of greatest contagion and here the important and complex thing is that the Delta variant is coexisting (takes the lower respiratory tract, the lung, is more aggressive) and we have seriously hospitalized in therapy, with Ómicron (which is upper respiratory tract and in principle, a little milder) ”.

“Seeing yesterday’s numbers at the national level, which were more than 109 thousand, has to be a sign of alarm for everyone. As for our province, we reached almost 10,000 cases in one day, and that tells us that the number of tests has been very high, “he added.

Likewise, Martorano reported that “the number of hospitalizations is growing, today it is already 8%, that percentage is rapidly increasing, and in such a complex moment where there is also a lot of isolation of health personnel which puts people in crisis and tension. the whole system. The most serious cases correspond to those not vaccinated and over 60 or with comorbidities ”.

“At this moment the first thing we have to do is maximize care, correct use of the mask, social distancing, hand washing and avoid mass events. We need this to sustain all economic activities ”, highlighted the Minister of Health.

TESTS

From the provincial website, www.santafe.gob.ar You are looking for the green button for shifts for Covid swabs and there you can enter to request shifts for both the city of Santa Fe and Rosario.

“Both from the public and from the private are increasing their testing capacity in the face of high demand from society,” added Martorano.

Who should swab?

The asymptomatic patient should not be swabbed, that is, a close contact of someone who is positive and does not have symptoms should be isolated for 5 days, if he has the complete vaccination schedule and then he can leave but with extreme care for 5 more days. Now, if you are not vaccinated or have only one dose, you must isolate yourself for 10 days.

What if I have symptoms?

Close contact with symptoms of a patient who is positive should not be tested, since it is considered positive due to an epidemiological link. This person, if he has the complete vaccination scheme, will remain isolated for 7 days plus 3 days with care, in the event that he is not well vaccinated they correspond to 10 days. You can report your positive condition in the social or prepaid work, with your family doctor or through 0800 555 6549.

In the case of those people with symptoms, over 60 years of age or with risk factors, you should make a consultation and there should be a swab to be able to carry out the necessary follow-up on that person.
