The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has temporarily reduced the taxi fleet by 75%.
The measure will begin to be applied on Tuesday to comply with the new indications issued by the government in the management of the health crisis.
Only about 200 vehicles will circulate daily through the streets of the capital, establishing four shifts for all licenses to be issued throughout the week.
A decree has been signed with which the taxi service in the Tenerife capital is reduced to 25% of the total licenses.
With this new arrangement, underlines the Councilor for Public Services, José Ángel Martín, “all licenses will come out in four shifts throughout the week.”
In this sense, a fleet of close to 200 taxis will be able to circulate through the streets of Santa Cruz daily, with the aim of guaranteeing the trips that have been authorized and considered essential.
According to the state of alarm, the Town Hall had already agreed to reduce licenses to 50%, alternating departures between even and odd numbers, and, as detailed by the mayor, the resolution to suspend 75% of the service each day is taken « following the dynamics of other administrations and once the new decree restricting mobility has been studied.
