Every year to the Christmas market, Santa Claus traditionally drove up with his elk mobile and gave presents to the children on stage. Due to the corona pandemic, no Christmas market could be held this year and there was no direct contact between the children and Santa Claus. So that the children could see the bushy beard again this year, Santa Claus and the city had a very special idea. On Saturday, d. December 19, 2020, the elk mobile was activated and Santa Claus made his way to the children in the city and the districts. Due to the current contact restrictions, the children were asked in advance to hang a small white flag on their doors or garden fences so that Santa Claus knew where to stop and where to find children. The Santa Claus tour was actually planned from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., but due to the many children’s hearts that Santa Claus made happy, the tour did not end until 6.30 p.m. on the market square. Numerous children insisted on waiting on their parents’ property until Santa Claus finally arrived or hiked with their family members along the Santa Claus route that had been set beforehand so as not to miss the beard. Wherever white flags were posted or the children waved on the side of the road, the elk-mobile stopped with his entourage and Santa Claus distributed small, sweet gifts. Many children gave the old beard little handicrafts or recited a poem, which Santa Claus was very happy about. Appropriately, he promised to come back on December 24th and is looking forward to seeing as many shining children’s eyes as was the case on this sunny December Saturday in the midst of the corona pandemic.
