The Maltin Modern Master Award, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival’s highest honor, named after film critic and historian Leonard Maltin, will go to Angelina Jolie at the festival’s 40th edition, February 4-15.

The award will be presented to Jolie, who will be seen in Pablo Larrain’s Maria Callas biopic “Maria” (here our SPOT review) in German cinemas from February 6th, on February 5th. In a conversation with Maltin, Jolie will reflect on her career.

“Angelina Jolie makes bold decisions, both as an actress and as a director. She sets the bar high in both disciplines and always succeeds. “I look forward to reflecting on her career with her in Santa Barbara,” said Maltin.

Previous recipients of the Modern Master Award, which the Santa Barbara Film Festival established in 1995 and named after Maltin in 2015, include Robert Downey Jr., Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Denzel Washington, Cate Blanchett, George Clooney, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Clint Eastwood and Peter Jackson honored.
