Salvadorans suffered a setback in the duel against Santa Ana, since after dominating the first two quarters of the match, the Westerners surprised them in the remaining time and took the victory 78-88, which allowed them to reach the lead of the Apertura Tournament Tigo Sports Cup of the Major Basketball League.
The runner-up of the Major League Basketball (LMB) Cup, Salvadoreños, started the first period dominating the visitors. The captain of the local team, Bryan García, contributed seven points that added up to winning the first quarter 23-18.
The defense of the capital’s residents was effective thanks to García and Emanuel Rodríguez, who were in charge of blocking the arrival of the Santanecos. Andrés Serrano, from Salvadoreños, stood out in the attack by contributing six points that helped close the score 22-19 for a total of 45-37.
However, Santa Ana’s reaction came in the third period, as the Westerners jumped onto the court of the Ciudad Deportiva Inclusiva with an overwhelming attitude, guided by the pair of foreigners Timothy Simmons and Lee Vásquez, who became a headache for the capital’s residents by adding 18 points between them. For Salvadoreños, Serrano stood out with 11 points to finish the episode 15-26 and turn the overall score 60-63 in favor of the visitors.
Despite the insistence on conquering the rival board, Salvadoreños could not stop the attack of Santa Ana which, led by Vásquez, won the period 18-25 to seal the final victory 78-88.
The top scorers for Salvadoreños were Serrano with 21 points, followed by García with 15 and Rodríguez with 10; For Santa Ana, Vásquez responded with 32, Simmons with 27 and Abdulbasit Ajia with 23 units.
Cojute won in San Vicente
A very exciting match was the one that took place on the court of the Tacón Court, which featured Fantasmas de San Vicente and Cojute. Both squads finished tied 61-61 in regulation time, so they decided in overtime, where the choriceros vindicated themselves and took the victory 67-78.

Fantasmas de San Vicente stays with 12; Lobos and Brujos de Izalco reach 11 points and Santiagueño is with 10 units.
