They will come the big names reduced: from 24 to 20. A small change to avoid delays, like last year. Will come back on Televoting in the first two evenings and on Thursday – cover night – space for Author song. It was unveiled on regulation of Sanremo Festival 2021, the second of the Amadeus management. Here are the details, confirmations (compared to the previous edition) and news.
Sanremo 2021, the regulation
The singing event, scheduled (subject to changes) from March 2 to 6 2021, will see the participation of 20 artists of the Champions category, whose names will be revealed during Sanremo Giovani – broadcast on Rai1, Radio2 and Raiplay – in prime time on December 17. During the broadcast, the 6 young people will also be selected who, together with the 2 winners of the Area Sanremo 2020 competition, will participate in the 2021 Festival in the New Proposals category.
In the first 2 evenings of the 2021 Festival, those of Tuesday and Wednesday, in addition to Opinion Jury comes reintroduced the televoting. At the outcome of the voting, a ranking of the 10 songs / artists of each evening will be drawn up. At the end of the appointment on Wednesday will come compiled a joint ranking of all 20 songs/ Artists competing in the Champions section, resulting from the percentages of votes obtained by these during the First Evening (the first 10) and in the Second (the other 10).
On Thursday, the center of the evening will be Author’s songs: the song chosen by each Big must be drawn from the repertoire of the Italian song and therefore it will not necessarily be linked to the history of the Festival, as it happened last year. On this evening the artists in the competition, who will be able to perform alone or with guests, will be judged by the musicians and vocalists of the Orchestra and the vote will also have value for the general classification of the Big category which will be updated every evening.
Friday 5th March will come into play Jury of the Press Office (later than in other years, when she was called to express herself right away) for the vote regarding the Big. The winner of the New Proposals category will instead be chosen among the 4 finalists by the contemporary judgment of Opinion poll, Press Office and Televoting Jury.
The same three juries will then be called to express themselves in the evening final on Saturday 6 March, on two different occasions: first to choose the names of the 3 finalists, finally to proclaim the winner of the 71st edition of the Festival of the Italian Song of Sanremo. The second and third classified will also be announced.
Streamlined the race of New Proposals: direct challenges between young talents will no longer be foreseen at the Sanremo 2021 Festival, but only 2 groups of 4 in the first and second evening.
