Adriano Celentano courted by Sanremo 2021. As far as Adnkronos is concerned, the ‘Molleilato’ was contacted by the festival for a great return to the Ariston stage. Celentano has been missing from the festival for 9 years, since he was partner of Gianni Morandi in 2012 in two evenings of the singing festival. The previous appearance, surprisingly, took place on the final evening of the Tony Renis festival in 2004. According to qualified sources, Celentano’s presence would be linked to a very particular project that could see another number one of the Italian show on stage: Roberto Benigni . In recent days, hypotheses have circulated of a return of the Oscar-winning director and actor, who last year had participated in the festival with his exegesis of the Song of Songs. Someone had hypothesized, in fact, that Benigni, passionate about Dante, to whom he dedicated several shows, could have brought to the Ariston a tribute to the Florentine poet, whose 700 years since his death this year. But the indiscretions had been nipped in the bud by Lucio Presta himself, manager of the television commitments of Benigni and also of Amadeus and considered somewhat the ‘deus ex machina’ of the festival. Now the hypothesis – not confirmed – of a meeting on stage between Benigni and Celentano. The two have not met on the same show since Benigni was Celentano’s guest at ‘Rockpolitik’ in 2005: together they dedicated a ‘letter to Silvio Berlusconi’.
