Responsibilities of the Senior Medical Science Liaison
The Senior Medical Science Liaison will serve as an extension of the medical function in the field, building constructive partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:
- proactively and reactively engaging with healthcare professionals and institutions.
- Exchanging medical and scientific information with external stakeholders in one-on-one interactions and group settings.
- Organizing and engaging Key Opinion leaders (KOLs) and Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) during local scientific meetings, such as hospital staff meetings and webinars, in alignment with the Stakeholder Engagement plan and Country Medical plan.
- Developing and maintaining trusted partnerships with healthcare professionals and institutions through scientific engagement and exchange.
- Communicating the clinical value of Sanofi’s products to population-health/formulary decision-makers.
- providing high-quality, accurate, balanced, and directed information to key customers and stakeholders in response to unsolicited requests.
- Supporting investigator study submissions and managing local advisory boards.
- Developing and executing individual stakeholder engagement plans aligned with the Medical Plan.
- Generating high-value, actionable insights and proposing solutions.
- Collaborating effectively with relevant internal stakeholders while maintaining full compliance with company, industry, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to evidence-generation activities, supporting both internal evidence-generation projects.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Sanofi is seeking a candidate with a strong background in medical science and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:
- Experience in stakeholder strategy and planning.
- Proven stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in immunology or Type 1 Diabetes field-based Medical activities is preferred.
- Experience in academia or a research surroundings is highly preferred.
Essential soft skills include strategic thinking, buisness acumen, interpersonal relationship skills, transversal collaboration abilities, learning agility, and the ability to foster a “Playing to Win” culture.
Technical skills required for the role encompass:
- A clear understanding of medical practice, clinical decision-making, and healthcare systems related to patient care in Type 1 Diabetes.
- Advanced understanding of clinical/medical science in T1D or immunology.
- The ability to leverage an omnichannel approach in engaging with external experts.
- The ability to interpret key scientific data and translate this information to meet educational and research needs.
- The ability to develop and convey a simple yet compelling value narrative to a broad set of stakeholders.
- The ability to stay abreast of data, treatment trends, and new information in the profession.
- Experience in developing and providing Training and Education programs.
- Understanding of Health economics and value outcomes to support Market Access discussions.
- Knowledge of relevant healthcare systems,the evolving medical landscape,regulatory and payer environments,public health,and industry trends.
- Digital & Analytical skills: able to analyze data,feedback,and turn it into insights.
- The ability to operate independently and navigate complex regulatory environments in person and via digital channels from a remote environment.
An advanced degree in a scientific or medical field (MSc, phd, Pharm D) is preferred. Outstanding communication and presentation skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential.
