Low battery
“Sometimes I compare myself to an old iPhone: I don’t charge properly anymore. My battery is draining faster than you can imagine. My resting heart rate is above 110. I visit a physiotherapist, cardiologist, pulmonologist and follow occupational therapy. And sometimes I suffer from brain fog and word search problems. Not particularly useful when you are in front of a class.
Long covid: 30% less income
“In October I will be sick for a year and my salary will go up to 70%. My husband can work a few more hours, so for now we can almost completely make up the difference of over 700 euros. But suppose you no longer find a job … Then in a year I will join the WIA and I will only receive € 1100 a month, less than half of what I am earning now. For our family this means 18,000 euros less in income on an annual basis ”.
With a few tweaks here and there and a little creative accounting, we’ll find out. Yet it seems that the sword of Damocles hangs over our heads. If I stay ill for a long time (and sadly it seems so for now), we and our kids have to make a lot of adjustments. Because fair is fair: if I receive a benefit of € 1100, we have to live differently. Then, for example, the February holiday will not take place, we will have to be careful with the shopping and we could ask the two older ones for a monthly contribution. All manageable, but the fun is different ”.
