Marin believes her private life has nothing to do with the media image.
Sanna MarinFinland’s former prime minister, speaks out against media focus on her private life.
In a Twitter message published on Friday, she expresses her frustration at the ongoing pressure, writes The daily newspaper.
– My private life has no social significance and it is unreasonable that it is still being written about in the press. I myself have not taken up my private affairs. Stop, please, writes Marin.
Observed
The message comes as a response to an article published by the Finnish magazine Seiska, which mentioned a man Marin was observed with.
Marin, who is 37, announced that she and husband Markus Räikkönen were going their separate ways in May.
She shared that with her followers on Instagram:
– We are filing for divorce together. We are grateful for the 19 years we have had together, and for our beloved daughter.
The couple, who had a daughter in 2018, married in 2020 at the Prime Minister’s residence, Kesäranta.
Defeat
In April, Marin lost the election against the liberal-conservative Samlingspartiet, led by Petteri Orpo.
Days before handing in her government’s resignation, she also announced that she will not stand for re-election as leader of Finland’s Social Democratic Party.
