Sanitas Welcomes Indigenous and Compensation EPS Affiliates: Numbers and Locations Revealed

Sanitas⁣ Assumes Coverage⁢ of Compensar and ‍AIC‍ Affiliates in Major ⁣health System‌ Redistribution

In a⁢ significant shift ‍within Colombia’s healthcare landscape,Sanitas EPS has taken on the coverage of a group of affiliates‍ previously under Compensar and the Indigenous Association of Cauca (AIC). This move, effective⁣ as this month, stems from two resolutions issued by the Superintendence of Health in December 2024 and January 2025, aimed at ⁤redistributing users across the health system.

The transfer involves 425 affiliates from the AIC, located in municipalities such as Barrancas and Hato Nuevo (La Guajira), and also Garzón, San José‍ de Isnos, and Guadalupe (Huila).Additionally,258 users from Compensar, based ⁤in Caloto,Pindamó,and⁢ Santander de⁣ Quilichao (Cauca),Bogotá DC,Chitagá ⁢(Norte de⁢ Santander),and Cali (Valle del Cauca),have been reallocated to Sanitas.

To facilitate this ⁤transition, Sanitas has set up a dedicated section on ‍its official website, allowing new affiliates to access detailed⁢ information about ⁣their ⁣transfer, verify their ‍affiliation, and resolve any doubts. This initiative underscores Sanitas’ commitment to ensuring a smooth integration into its healthcare network. ‍‌

Affected users can⁤ also seek assistance⁣ through nationwide telephone⁣ lines,including Bogotá (1) ⁢3759000,Barranquilla‍ (5) ⁤322688,Bucaramanga ⁢(7) 6852985,Cali (2) 3989340,Cartagena (5) 6545754,and the national line 01 8000 919 100.

This redistribution follows decisions by the Superintendence‍ of Health regarding the operational status⁢ of these EPS. For AIC,‍ the authorization as an ‍indigenous insurer was revoked in eight ⁤of⁤ the nine departments where ⁤it ⁢operated due to breaches in service ⁣provision. Compensar, ⁢on the other hand, saw its request for a progressive⁣ exit from the system denied in April 2024, leading to the revocation of its operational‌ authorization in 10 departments, affecting 196,000 users. ‌Meanwhile, its 1.6 million affiliates in Bogotá ⁣ and Cundinamarca will‍ continue under its coverage. ‌

The relocation⁣ process, which ⁣may take several months,⁤ ensures that medical care remains uninterrupted for ‌all affected users. ‌
