Sania Patankar: World-renowned Indian Classical Singer Performs Live in Aachen

Play classical North Indian music

For the first time in the long history of our concerts, we are offering a very loud concert with Indian classical singing and the famous Indian singer will also be our guest for the first time. Sania Patankar. She comes from a very musical family who plays everything from violin to sitar. She began her singing training at the young age of 6. When she appeared in public for the first time at the age of twelve and impressed the familiar audience, a rapid musical career began that continues to the today and includes countless scholarships, awards, concerts and jugalbandis at home and abroad. She is an A-list artist from Doordarshan and Akashwani and has received first prize in all All India Radio categories – classical, light and semi-classical – at the national level. She has been commissioned by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) of the Indian government to represent Indian classical music abroad. She takes this very seriously, as evidenced by 32 (!) solo concerts in the US alone and 16 (!) solo concerts in Australia/New Zealand. In fact, she is always moving in Europe. And now also in Aachen.
About her own singing, and this note especially goes to the true feelings of Indian classical music:
What is remarkable about her is a sensitive and intellectual approach to the structure of the sung ragas; What should be noted is that there is flexibility in singing different forms of music like Khayal, Thumri, Dadra, Tappa, Gazal, Natyageet, Bhavgeet, Bhajans, Abhang, Flol Music; What is appreciated is the lightness and grace of her expressive voice in the three octaves with clear diction and mastery of rhythm and complex Taan patterns.
