Sangiuliano’s return to Rai: “I want to be a journalist”. The hypothesis of a correspondent role from the USA

Exactly two months after his resignation as Minister of Culture for the Boccia case, preceded two days earlier by the interview with the director of Tg1 Gian Marco Chiocci, Gennaro Sangiuliano he returned to Rai screens as a journalist, to analyze the victory of Donald Trump in the American presidential elections. “I am proudly employed by Rai, I believe very much in the public service and its values. I want to go back to doing my job and deal with issues that I am passionate about with civil commitment and respect for the values ​​of the public service. So I now think I will turn the page and focus on to this”. For Sangiuliano – the hypothesis is circulating in Viale Mazzini – a role as correspondent from the USA could indeed come.

In the meantime – he announced – he has ready the new edition of his biography of the tycoon, “Trump. Life of a president against everyone” (Mondadori) which will have the subtitle “The revenge”.

The former director of Tg2 spoke via video link, as a “great expert on the United States”, with the Tg1 special on the US vote: “Trump – he said – underlined the cohesive sense of the political community that surrounds him. He gave a hymn to common sense which will be the regulating element of his presidency”, he explained.

Then he was a guest in the studio on Rainews 24 and Porta a Porta and spoke among other things about his return to Rai after the period of leave linked to government activity: “It has been my job for over 20 years, I have carried out in various roles, I was the editor-in-chief of Tgr, the deputy director of Tg1 and the director of Tg2”. In hindsight, is there anything he wouldn’t have done? “That yes, but now this matter is entrusted to the judiciary, I believe very much in the judiciary, in its independence and autonomy and therefore I trust and believe in the values ​​of justice”.
