“What happened to the precious golden key to Pompeii, worth around 12,000 euros, donated by Carmine Lo Sapiomayor of the Vesuvian city, a Gennaro Sangiuliano when was he a minister? This was revealed in an unpublished document, signed by the then head of the Ministry of Culture which will be shown exclusively by Alessandro Sortino, in the report on The Hyenas broadcast tomorrow, Sunday 27 October, in prime time, on Italia1.
On the type of relationship that existed between Gennaro Sangiuliano and the failed consultant of the ministry Maria Rosaria BocciaRome prosecutors are investigating but – second the Hyenas – there would be a new file, which would have been opened regarding the golden key, the fate of which the Court of Auditors would also be investigating. Furthermore, the employees of the municipality of Pompeii were questioned by the Carabinieri of the investigative unit. “We were all questioned, not just me. We all went to the prosecutor’s office for the Boccia case so the prosecutor’s office carries out 360-degree investigations”, a municipal secretary tells the correspondent.
Before Sangiuliano, such an important object was also delivered to his predecessor, the minister Dario Franceschini. According to the law, when a minister receives a gift he can only keep it if it is worth less than 300 euros, otherwise the object must be handed over to the public administration. Also in the Iene report it is said that “it seems that Franceschini kept the golden key for three years and only gave it back when, this summer, the scandal involving the former minister Sangiuliano broke out, because he thought ‘it was rubbish’.”
“I spoke to the jeweler who told me there was a guarantee certificate”, Alessandro Sortino tells him after reaching him by phone. “When we go around they often give us these things of prizes, ceremonies. – Franceschini replies – I never opened it again, I took it home together with other parchments and things of the sort, when I read that that given to Sangiuliano it was valuable and I returned it”. The jeweler told me that it was impossible not to notice, she says that there were jewels, sapphires, rubies, diamonds, Sortino points out. “Meanwhile, it’s difficult to imagine that such a valuable object would be delivered in a municipality that awards an honor, right? However, moral of the story, I didn’t suspect it in the slightest. When I read the story of Sangiuliano who had received a key I returned that value there”, concludes Franceschini.
But according to the goldsmith who made it, it was clear that the object was precious. “Could it seem like a scam? But for the love of God, she offends me! It was certified and everything was written down. Did Franceschini think it was a scam? And I can also think that he holds a fake degree. The Vitiello jewelry store was putting out a scam We even perfected the latest one from Sangiuliano with emeralds, sapphires and rubies”, he tells the correspondent.
Even Sangiuliano, through quotation marks reported by the newspaper The Pressin September, distancing himself from his predecessor, announced: “The key is registered with the ministry together with the other gifts”. But a few days later it was Boccia who raised the doubt by replying to deputy director Federico Monga: “Show her this registered key”.
In the exclusive document, signed by himself and addressed to the cabinet of the Ministry of Culture, the former minister explains how things would be: “I considered that this object, bearing my initials, was of a value far less than 300 euros , limit for the obligation to confer to the ministry”.
But hadn’t he declared that he had handed it over and registered it with the ministry? Sortino asks himself. Sangiuliano claims that “in reality, he too, like his predecessor Franceschini, had not noticed the value of the key, even though his also had precious stones set in gold. Nonetheless, having ascertained the value of the gift, Sangiuliano should have returned it “.
Yet, we still read in the document he drafted: “I do not have the availability of the same. It would appear to be in the availability of Mrs. Boccia Maria Rosaria, resident in Pompeii, based on a photograph posted by her on social media”. And, even more importantly: I am immediately ready to pay the prescribed sum”, pay the difference between the 300 euros and the real value of the object, that is, pay 11,700 euros, for a gift that, today, I do not own. more. Maria Rosaria Boccia joined by Alessandro Sortino asks to turn off the camera and leaves in her car. Shortly after, she warns the program to “refrain from broadcasting reports that contain unsubstantiated news, such as to spread a defamatory and harmful message. of the honour, decorum and reputation of Boccia Maria Rosaria”. The new investigations by the prosecutor’s office and the Court of Auditors will provide clarity.
