Tournament name and slots
The AFC Champions League (ACL) and AFC Cup until the 2023/24 season will become the AFC Champions League Elite (ACLE), AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) and AFC Challenge League (ACGL) from the 2024/25 season.
The number of clubs participating in the AFC competition will be determined by the AFC ranking (divided into “East Region” and “West Region”, with Japan currently in first place in the East Region), and the participation slots for J clubs are as follows.
- *Japan will not participate in the AFC Cup/AFC Challenge League (ACGL) based on their AFC rankings.
