It was expected that, in 2024, both Tinguiririca San Fernando and Tomás Lawrence would represent the region in the second category of the National Basketball League. But, everything came to nothing after the officialization of the teams that will compete in League 2.
Both clubs are not on the list of confirmed teams, in addition to other historical teams such as Osorno and Liceo de Curicó.
According to an internal letter from the League, dated last February 12, it is indicated that TSF “presented incomplete information”, not complying with the delivery of “Debt Free Certificate with FEBACHILE, non-payment of debts it maintains with the LNB and delivery of a payment agreement for the current debt with the team without the signature of the creditors.”
The crucial thing in this mess is that Tinguiririca has all the documents in order – according to managers – and they do not understand the refusal to be included in the competition. Furthermore, an example of this is that the certificate of free debt with the Federation is dated February 9, days before the League’s communication.
In this way, in San Fernando they will not stay there, and they are studying going to sports and ordinary justice as a result of the determination of the LNB management, accusing that they are being discriminated against.
For its part, in the case of Tomás Lawrence, the club did not respond to the letter 1-2024, being left out due to lack of interest.
The 2024 League 2 tournament, which will officially begin on March 23, will have the following teams competing: Deportivo Alemán de Concepción, Arabe de Valparaíso, Arturo Prat de San Felipe, Boston College de Maipú, Brisas de La Cisterna, Colo -Colo, Luis Matte Larraín from Puente Alto, Municipal Chillán, Quilpué Básquetbol, Sergio Ceppi from La Cisterna, Stadio Italiano de Las Condes and Truenos de Talca.
