Sandu agreed with Scholz about the expulsion of Moldovans: The Diaspora must return home: EADaily

Chisinau and Berlin will sign a new agreement on migration. The document is currently being prepared and aims to improve migration processes. Moldovan President Maia Sandu spoke about this at a press conference held the day before with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Sandu noted that there is already a large community of Moldovans in Germany who have found a second home there, and reiterated that she wants the diaspora to return home.

“Our goal is to improve living conditions in the Republic of Moldova and strengthen democracy, so that all those who left want to return, and young people believe in a bright future here at home ,” – said Sandu.

Olaf Scholz said that negotiations on a migration agreement are moving in the right direction and need rapid development.

“This agreement will help improve the situation of both countries,” – summary of the German Chancellor.

Let’s remember that last November, the German Bundestag passed a bill that added Georgia and Moldova to the list of so-called safe countries. Now the applications of the citizens of these states for asylum are considered under an accelerated and simplified procedure, and those who are rejected will be forcibly sent home.

According to the German Interior Minister Nancy Featherthis is “an important step towards reducing illegal migration. ” To date, Georgia and Moldova account for more than 10% of rejected asylum applications, and less than 0.3% granted.

At the same time, Tbilisi and Chisinau undertake to accept their citizens back if they are denied asylum. Due to the lack of such agreements, Germany was previously unable to return large numbers of migrants.

As reported EADaily . According to official data, during the four years of Sandu’s regime, approximately 200 thousand of the working population left the country, and over the past 10 years there are officially fewer people in the republic with 350 miles. People are leaving with their entire families to escape poverty, unemployment and lack of rights. According to economic analysis Veaceslav Ionitathe republic is experiencing the third most impressive wave of population outflow – youth migration.
