The fact that Swiss television cast Sandra Moser as Annekäthi in the sitcom “Fascht e Familie” in 1998 was important for many “people of color”. This is what the Swiss actress with a Senegalese father says in a review of her career.
In a conversation with Moser published in the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung” on Saturday, the now 54-year-old said: “It still happens to me today that young people of color tell me how important it was for them to see a character like Annekäthi on television see.”
A lot has changed for her with the success of “Fascht e Familie”: she was suddenly recognized everywhere. That stressed her out. “On the other hand, I was suddenly treated with respect everywhere. Respect that I had sometimes missed before.”
In the successful sitcom “Fascht e Familie” in 1997, actress Hanna Scheuring left the role of “Vreni Hubacher” and was replaced by Moser as “Annekäthi Tobler”. The series revolved around four very different people who lived together in an old house.
The series, designed by Charles Lewinsky, achieved very high ratings. Moser, who grew up in the canton of Bern and now lives in Basel, is now a director, author and communications trainer, among other things.
