Sandra Lyng: – She was only 16 years old. Terrible

Sandra Lyng (35) she first became known to the Norwegian people 18 years ago, when in 2004 she entered the “Idol” folk song contest. The charming 16-year-old from Mosjøen made his way into people’s hearts and finished in fourth place.

However, the songbird with the big smile may reveal that it wasn’t just a positive experience being on “Idol”. In the podcast “The sum of the sums” he says now that he was under enormous pressure at the time.

– It was horrible

Lyng was alone in the capital, away from his parents and Mosjøen. She was only 16 and had to give birth well enough week after week to secure a place in the competition.

With the participation came a lot of attention and media coverage. But it wasn’t just Lyng’s talent that made it into the columns. In the podcast, she says that she was treated as an adult and therefore she also experienced being sexualized.

She explains that she was suffering from eating disorders at the time. She alone in a small hotel room in Oslo, she had no one to talk to about difficult things, she says.

Started with self-harm

For a girl alone, it is not easy to solve difficult thoughts. The artist is only clear on this and she explains that she was referring to drastic actions.

– I started getting hurt and throwing up food. I didn’t have social media at the time, so I didn’t know what I was doing. All I wanted was to numb the pain inside, she says and continues:
