1. How did you get into politics?

I came to politics driven by an innate passion for social change and justice. My story was forged in the fight for the rights of people with disabilities, inspired by the life of my son Emmanuel, who has Down syndrome. My education in occupational therapy and a master’s degree in inclusive and intercultural education gave me the tools to make a difference. Throughout 15 years, I worked tirelessly in Nariño, advocating for equality and inclusion. My leadership in the indigenous community and my commitment to the well-being of all led me to make the decision to be a candidate to continue fighting for an inclusive and equitable future.

2. As a councillor, what will be your main goals and projects and the impact you want to have in your community?

As a candidate for the Nariño Departmental Assembly, my main objective is to bring the voice of the communities to decision-making. I will work tirelessly to promote laws and policies that strengthen inclusion, quality education, and care for people with disabilities. My focus will be on sustainable development, the protection of our environment and equity in access to opportunities. I want to positively impact the lives of the people of Nariño, building a future where diversity is celebrated and where everyone has the opportunity to prosper. Our legacy will be an inclusive and fair Nariño for future generations.
