Sandiaga Uno again revealed his chances of becoming the cawapres of the prospective PDIP presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 presidential election. Sandiaga said that the decision would be determined by the political party leadership.
“I don’t want to make assumptions, that’s the leader’s decision. For me, I once left the Deputy Governor’s position to fight, whether to be elected or not is not our right. That is purely from Allah, I’m sure that if we straighten our intentions to develop the country, we will get results the best,” said Sandiaga after the National Bappilu meeting in South Jakarta, Sunday (6/8/2023).
As is known, at that time he had left the position of Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta to run for vice presidential candidate from Prabowo Subianto in the 2019 Presidential Election. However, in the end the Prabowo-Sandi pair lost to their rival, the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin pair.
Sandiaga said that currently he is still focused on his duties as chairman of the PPP election winning body (Bappilu). There are several things that are emphasized so that PPP can get 11 million votes.
“Because the presidential and cawapres candidates have not yet been decided, we will focus first on the Legislative Election, first focus on achieving 11 (million) votes. We will focus on the economy, we will focus on low prices, easy work, a blessed life, that is what we will focus on,” he said .
“So we can’t be in a position to get a position or power, we were before our eyes working hard, working smart, working thoroughly and working sincerely,” he added.
Sandiaga added that PPP would focus on issues currently developing in society. According to him, the leadership of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has brought a lot of progress, but he does not deny that there is still much that needs to be fixed. Sandiaga said PPP was ready to help solve this.
“We are looking at victory on February 14, 2024, so what we will focus on is issues that are in the midst of society. Because Pak Jokowi, thank God, has brought a lot of progress, and there is still a lot of homework that PPP will later help complete in the thought of accelerating development,” he concluded.
