Sander Gillé (ATP D-22) and Joran Vliegen (ATP D-20) failed to win their first match at the US Open (United States, Grand Slam). They went down in three sets.

Gillé and Vliegen started in New York as the eleventh seed. In the first round they had to face Francisco Cabral (ATP D-53) and Rafael Matos (ATP D-48). The Belgian duo won the first set 6-3, but Cabral and Matos took the tiebreak of the second set 6-7 (4).

In the third set, the Portuguese-Brazilian duo was too strong for our compatriots 6-4. The match lasted 2 hours and 28 minutes. Last year, the first round was also the final station for the Belgian tandem in New York.
