Set in a new country called “Forestland,” the animated series “SAND LAND: THE SERIES” tells a new chapter of the story. In the game, it is developed as an area that players can explore. Along with the release of this information, Toriyama’s comments and a new illustration depicting the world of Forest Land were released.

In addition, new characters appearing in the world of Forest Land will also be announced. Mikako Komatsu will play the role of Ann, a girl who comes from Forest Land and will accompany Beelzebub and his friends on their new adventure, while Ayumu Murase will play the role of Meuniere, an angel who came from the heavens and calls himself a hero in Forest Land. Akira Toriyama comment

The SAND LAND Project had a game, and then progressed to an anime.
When you first showed me the character designs, I thought it was a game.
After that, as the progress progressed, I started thinking, “Huh? Maybe it was an anime.”
As the process progressed further, I remember being surprised and thinking, “What! It was both!”

Partly as a reaction to the somewhat flashy work I was serializing called “Dragon Ball,” all of my short stories and one-shots have been about my favorite small worlds and quiet, peaceful stories about loose-fitting heroes.
“SAND LAND” is basically the same kind of content, but I guess they thought it would be difficult to make it into an action movie.
The animation staff added various flashy devices to add a sense of gravity to the production.

Regarding the sequel, “Angel’s Hero Arc,” the synopsis we received included a lot of dramatic elements and dynamic developments from the beginning.
I proposed the setting and design of the new character Angel Meuniere, the design of Anne, etc., and the episodes, and the sequel was completed.

The dramatic development, which I would never have realized because I like simple things, is a fresh surprise, and I am sure you will enjoy the new world view and powerful action.

A new adventure for Beelzebub, Rao, and Thief and an encounter with new characters.
It would be really great if you could enjoy the exciting story about the terrifying energy “aquanium” and feel a sense of peace.

Comment from Mikako Komatsu (playing Anne)

Impressions about the characters you play and the work you do

Toriyama-sensei’s works have been around me since I was a child, and I was exposed to nature, but they are not full of gags or the strongest battle action, and they are set in the desert!
The main character is a boy devil, old men, tanks, and mecha! Sour! But it’s cool!!!
I couldn’t help but immerse myself in the worldview.
Anne is an original character, but since she’s a mechanic, she’s also someone you can rely on. What kind of activity will she show? The interaction with Belze was really fun even during the dubbing.

Message to fans

Fusion of animation and CG! This desert world, tanks, and mechanics are all beautifully detailed! This sense of excitement is sure to touch any generation…!!
It contains a message that will never fade no matter how many years pass. Please enjoy!

Comment from Ayumu Murase (role of Meuniere)

I went into the audition with a lot of excitement because it was based on Toriyama-sensei’s original work.
Meuniere is an angel, but he’s actually a charlatan with a nice personality, or rather, an angel (lol).
I think this is a fun character that will get everyone excited!

Message to fans

I am very honored to be involved in “SAND LAND”.
During the dubbing, the ideas we brought were utilized, and the illustrations were clearly drawn with Toriyama-sensei’s worldview in mind!
I’m sure it will be a spectacular work, so I hope you’ll look forward to it.
