Sanctions hit Russian company GTLK, which finances Havila Kystruten’s ships – NRK Møre og Romsdal – Local news, TV and radio

In 2018, the Havila Coastal Route was commissioned to operate four of the daily routes between Bergen and Kirkenes. Since its inception, the company has been characterized by that things have not gone according to plan.

Discusses alternative financing

Havila Kystruten writes that they assume that the sanctions prevent GTLK from financing the ships. They have been working to find an alternative financing for a period, because they saw that there could be sanctions against GTLK.

“Havila Capella” now runs a regular route between Bergen and Kirkenes. As far as NRK knows, the second ship, “Havila Castor”, was to be delivered from the Turkish shipyard Tersan these days.

According to the booking portal on Havila’s website, “Havila Castor” will sail a maiden voyage from Bergen on 10 May.
