This initiative, created through the efforts of tens of thousands of experts, was supposed to be the key link in the implementation of Putin’s plan to transform Russia into one of the world leaders in the export of natural gas liquefied natural gas (LNG). But due to the pressure of Western sanctions, the project was about to collapse completely.
According to satellite data analyzed by the Earth Observation Group at the Paine Public Policy Institute in Colorado, activity at the plant has dropped significantly. In late October and early November, nighttime light levels at the site reached their lowest levels since monitoring began in 2018–2019 and were almost zero.

This was supposed to be a strategic advance for Russia, strengthening its position in the global energy market. However, the war in Ukraine, unleashed by the Kremlin, and subsequent sanctions hindered these plans.
