On Friday, the United States announced new restrictions banning the export of U.S. chip-making equipment to China.
US companies Lam Research, Applied Materials and KLA Corporation immediately began to comply with new US regulations.
According to the Financial Times, LAM ordered its employees to leave China’s chip factories on Tuesday. Dutch tech company ASML has ordered its US employees to stop serving Chinese customers. ASML manufactures the hardware needed to create computer chips.
“US ASML employees must refrain from serving customers in China until further notice. Of course, we are taking precautions to ensure compliance with the new rules,” the statement said.
Employees at China’s YMTC chip manufacturing plant confirmed that US companies have stopped deliveries.
