Sanction for Pablo Montero is foreseen for altering the Mexican anthem

The Ministry of the Interior informed that it will carry out the corresponding pertinent actions to sanction those who were involved in Torreón in the preliminary ceremony of the Santos-Cruz Azul soccer game, in which the singer Pablo Montero altered the lyrics of the Mexican National Anthem.

In a statement, the agency recalled that, in accordance with the Law on the Shield, the Flag and the National Anthem, it is responsible for ensuring compliance with the provisions of said rule. “The Ministry of the Interior, through the General Directorate of Democratic Culture and Civic Development, will carry out the corresponding actions, in accordance with the provisions of said law and the Federal Law of Administrative Procedure, to determine the responsibility of the persons involved in the aforementioned event ”, he indicated.

During the act prior to the first leg final of the Guard1anes Clausura-2021 tournament, Montero sang the Hymn a cappella and during its performance, instead of saying “… that in heaven your eternal destiny was written by the finger of God” , he intoned “… that on the finger your eternal destiny summons us to deal with courage.”

The law establishes in article 38 that the singing, execution and reproduction of the anthem will adhere to the established lyrics and music, and article 39 prohibits altering the lyrics or music and executing it totally or partially with compositions or arrangements.

The sanctions range from a public reprimand, a fine of up to 10,000 times the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), equivalent to 896,200 pesos, or an arrest for 36 hours.

We searched for the actor and interpreter of songs like “Hay Otra en Tu Lugar” on Friday, but there was no response.
