The President of the Government of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, has been optimistic and confident in the victory of the PSC and Salvador Illa in the elections to the Parliament of Catalonia on February 14, whose electoral campaign begins this midnight. This is how he expressed it in the first act with the candidate in Barcelona: «We are going to win in all constituencies Catalan ».

In a completely telematic format and without the presence of journalists or photographers, Sánchez from the PSC headquarters has supported the socialist candidate to preside over the Generalitat, whom he has defined as “generous”, “worker”, with sense of humor”, “Smart,” “respectful,” and “good person.”

During his speech, the President of the Executive has lamented the “lost decade” for Catalonia because of the independence movement, framing it in the “procés”, but pointed out that, from his point of view, “most Catalans have said enough, it’s over, this doesn’t work anymore »and “Yearn for a change”, that only Illa can lead.

«On February 14 we will have Salvador Illa as the next president of the Generalitat. Catalonia does not need a good candidate, you need a good president. Any real possibility of change happens, yes or yes, through Illa and the PSC ”, he indicated.

Sánchez has also used the event to remember that in the last year the Catalan Government has received from the Government € 21.9 billion in transfers, closing 2020 with “the largest” funding in the history of the Generalitat.

For his part, Illa, before Sánchez’s intervention, has defended that after the regional elections he must be able to “Talk about everything and everyone”, because he added, “to speak is not to give in” but to “recognize the other.” And he added: «Catalonia needs a real change, from the roots, that puts a Government in front of the country, that has clear and well focused priorities, totally opposed to the current mess that has not brought anything good, only paralysis and sensation suffocation. Not a single achievement.
