San Salvador achieved a new victory by beating La Paz 1-7 and consolidates itself in second place in the standings with 88 points. Cabañas, the undisputed leader with 90 points, drew 0-0 against Atlético La Unión, which confirmed its place in the quarterfinals of the National Football League (LNF) 2024 Lottery Cup by achieving 51 points.
In another duel of the day, Sonsonate achieved an important 2-1 victory against Ahuachapán, at the Ana Mercedes Campos Stadium, a result that leaves for the last day the definition for the eighth place in the quarterfinals among the border team, who are in ninth place with 47 points and the coconut trees with 49.
In the match played at the Antonio Toledo Valle Stadium, San Salvador opened the scoring after 10 minutes on an individual play by José Montano (0-1). The lead was extended thanks to a goal from Juan Sánchez five minutes later.
At 18 minutes, Sánchez was once again the protagonist by making it 0-3 with a shot from outside the area that beat the Virola goalkeeper and scored his double of the match. Bryan Guerrero joined the goal party at 27′ and made it 0-4.
Marco Ávila, in a play in which he faced a defender on the edge of the area, managed to get unmarked and scored 0-5 with his left foot, just three minutes later Guerrero scored the sixth goal of the game.
Sánchez signed his hat trick with a right-footed shot in the 70th minute, which made it 0-7. The home team’s discount came one minute from the end, thanks to Christopher Díaz’s goal.
In Sonsonate, the locals won a 2-1 victory over Ahuachapán, a result that returned the coconut trees to the fight for qualification to the quarterfinals. The goals in this match were from Julio Vásquez (3′) and Fernando Lara (79′) for Sonsonate; and Ahuachapán’s only goal was scored by Bryan Pineda (45’+2).
San Vicente, for its part, won 2-0 against Cuscatleco and, with one date to play, leaves the Vicentinos with 43 points and the Cuscatlecos with 18 in box 12. Geovani Velásquez (40′) and José Vega (61′ ) were the scorers of the match.
