Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Francesco Bagnaia win MotoGP San Marino 2021 at Misano by beating Fabio Quartararo in an intense duel until the last lap.
Bagnaia started the race perfectly. Followed by Miller in second position, Bagnaia already winning 1.2 seconds after the first lap. Quartararo came under pressure from Marc Marquez and Jorge Martin after the first lap.
Before the race Miller said he was ready to act as a blocker for Bagnaia to win at the MotoGP San Marino 2021. And that was what happened at the beginning of the race.
Interestingly, it wasn’t just Miller who became an obstacle for Quartararo. Entering the third lap of El Diablo, Martin managed to overtake Quartararo. The two drivers had time to compete with each other before Martin fell at corner 14 in the third lap.
Quartararo was completely surrounded by Ducati at the San Marino MotoGP race. After Martin fell, Enea Bastianini succeeded in being in fourth position after passing Marquez on the seventh lap. The 2020 Moto2 champion appeared extraordinary by being in third position after starting from 12th position.
A mistake by Miller and Quartararo at corner 13 on lap nine allowed Bagnaia to move further away. Pecco was already 2.8 seconds ahead of Miller entering lap ten.
After struggling hard to get past Miller, Quartararo finally moved up to second after overtaking Miller on lap 14.
Bastianini several times became the fastest racer in the middle of the race. Entering the 17th lap, the Italian racer cut the distance with Miller to 1.9 seconds. Even though Bastianini used the Desmosedici Ducati two seasons ago.
Entering the 19th lap Bagnaia began to get pressure from Quartararo. The French racer started to get closer to Bagnaia to 1.6 seconds from the previous more than 2 seconds.
Bastianini finally climbed to third position after passing Miller at corner 13 on lap nine. The Avintia Esponsorama racer became the fastest racer three laps in a row before overtaking Miller.
Bagnaia was increasingly under pressure from Quartararo on lap 22 or the last five laps. El Diablo approaches for up to 1 second. Bagnaia seems to be starting to struggle with the soft grip of the rear tire. The distance between the two drivers became 0.7 seconds with the last four laps.
The race got even more interesting after Quartararo was only 0.2 seconds away from Bagnaia with two laps remaining.
Bagnaia was finally able to overcome Quartararo’s resistance and win the 2021 San Marino MotoGP. Bastianini took the third podium.
