From August 16 to 23, the 43rd edition of the San Luis Culture Week will take place, dedicated on this occasion to Mirta Oria Hernández Valdés, a prominent educator of the territory, teacher of generations and very close to the cultural movement of the municipality.
Yudith Hernández Hernández, Communications specialist from the Municipal Department of Culture, specified that within the framework of the Timbalaye international festival in Vueltabajo, the Yuka Drum Festival will be held in San Luis on the 22nd, with the presence of our carrying group that carries that same name.
The 23rd marks the 145th anniversary of the declaration of San Luis as a municipal district by the governor of Pinar del Río, “because until that date it had been a paddock of the San Juan y Martínez party. At that time, elections were called for the formation of the municipal council, created on January 1, 1879, and whose first interim mayor was councilor Magín Guash”, they refer to in their historical summary, published in this weekly.
