San Lorenzo beat Talleres de Córdoba 2-0 and achieved its first victory in the Professional League

San Lorenzo beat Talleres 2-0 in the match that opened Sunday’s activity and, at the Pedro Bidegain, the Cyclone achieved its first win in the Professional League. This victory gives air to the team led by Leandro Romagnoli, who is immersed in a deep sporting and institutional crisis, and is a joy that allows them to forget the recent elimination in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores against Atlético Mineiro. The match was refereed by Nazareno Arasa (Ariel Penel was in charge of the VAR).

In a match with a lot of hard play and a lot of talk on and off the pitch, the home team was the one who had the first chance with a recovery by Nicolás Tripichio, who, seeing Guido Herrera out of the way, chipped it in from medium distance, but the goalkeeper stopped him.

The Cyclone maintained its superiority and it was Tripichio himself who assisted Alexis Cuello who with a perfect three-finger definition opened the scoring at 36 minutes.

In the second half, San Lorenzo fell back and Talleres went for the equaliser. Juan Portilla was close to tying the score, but his shot hit the post.

In the next half, the blue and red team increased the lead with an accurate shot from Elián Irala that overcame Herrera’s resistance and in the 77th minute made it 2-0.

In the next match, Talleres will host Estudiantes on Saturday at 18:00. While San Lorenzo will visit Platense on Sunday at 14:30.

LANUS VS GODOY CRUZ

Lanús tied 1-1 against Godoy Cruz in a match between two irregular teams. Although Granate is coming off of eliminating Liga de Quito in the Copa Sudamericana and dreams of international conquest (it will have to face DIM in the quarterfinals), in the Professional League it has not yet found the consistency that allows it to fight for the top spots. With 4 wins, 5 draws and 3 losses, Ricardo Zielinski’s team was better than Tomba in the first half, but suffered the draw nine minutes from the end.

El Granate took the lead in the 20th minute after a through ball to Marcelino Moreno, who raised his head and saw Walter Bou alone and the former Boca Juniors player scored with a first-time shot to make it 1-0.

In the second half, the team from Mendoza went for the equaliser and could have achieved it with a scissor kick from Salomón Rodríguez that hit the post. Finally, they achieved it with an excellent free kick from Gonzalo Abrego from 35 metres.
