This Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., the Hospital will carry out a vaccination, awareness and information campaign for all people who come to the hospital.
After learning of the death of a worker due to having contracted Argentine Hemorrhagic Fever, the San José Hospital urges citizens to get vaccinated against this disease. It is worth noting that the production of Candid I, a vaccine against the commonly known “stubble disease”, is produced in Pergamino, at the Maiztegui Institute.
“This vaccine is aimed at all people over 15 years of age. A single dose is applied for life to avoid the disease transmitted by the rodent,” said Roxana Juárez, vaccinator at the Hospital. “The entire population who has gone 30 days without receiving a vaccine is vaccinated, including those who are not pregnant, are not breastfeeding and who do not have diseases.”
In the northern region
For her part, María Tissera (vaccinator) added: “All people who are in this northern region of the Province of Buenos Aires should be vaccinated, because it is an endemic area for Hemorrhagic Fever.”
“Before it was said that the vaccine was only for people who worked in the fields, now it is known that the rodent is in various places, not only in the countryside, but also in the city, that is why it is important that everyone is vaccinated,” Juárez indicated
Campaign
Next Saturday, the 20th of this month, from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at the Hospital, a vaccination, awareness and information campaign will be carried out for all people who come to the institution.
In addition, the hospital invites the population to get vaccinated, Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Higa-San José Vaccination Center.
The death of a Rosario
A 42-year-old man from Rosario died on the first day of 2024 due to Argentine hemorrhagic fever.
He had returned on December 18 from Santiago del Estero, since he had work activities related to the field. After feeling generally unwell and having a fever for several days, he was admitted to a private sanatorium in Rosario where, although they managed to provide him with convalescent plasma, he could not overcome the infection caused by the Junín virus.
Although the death occurred on the first day of the year, having been infected before, the death is registered among the fatal cases of 2023 in the city, which were two in total.
In 2022, there had been a worrying peak in diagnoses of the so-called Rastrojos Disease, with 8 infections confirmed in Rosario during that year, and one death. Therefore, there are three fatalities between 2022 and 2023.
Luciano, the 42-year-old man who died on Monday January 1st (father of several small children, who lived in Funes), “was admitted to intensive care and they also gave him plasma; despite the efforts of the professionals who assisted him The expected results were not obtained (due to the enormous number of complications he was having)”, reported the doctor who treated him.
